A few weeks ago, I completed my yoga instructor course in Kerala, and I was very sad to leave all of my wonderful friends, but excited to see more of India.
After leaving Kerala, I headed to Kolkata to meet up with my yoga teacher from home and join her on a service tour she organized. During this tour we visited the homes of girls in Kolkata who were rescued from trafficking, or given up by their mothers to avoid being brought into prostitution. I thought this part of the trip would be difficult, but it was enlightening to see that these girls were so full of joy despite their situation.
After this, we headed to Om Kareshwar, which is a small island on the Narmada River, and is a Siva holy place. We celebrated Maha Sivaratri at an ashram and had a wonderful time.
After reluctantly leaving this incredible ashram, I headed to New Delhi to meet some friends from my yoga program, and see some of the sights in Delhi. I spent most of my time in Delhi eating, enjoying Indian hospitality.
After this, my parents and sister met me in Delhi, and we are currently on an organized tour for their holiday. We visited Jaipur, and Argra which is the home of the Taj Mahal. Next we are off to Kathmandu, Nepal.
I have been in India now for about two months, and the longer I stay, the more I fall in love this country! As soon as I get a chance I will be posting photos and stories from my trip thus far, but wifi is a rare commodity in India, and even when I find wifi, it is often not reliable.
However, if you would like to follow my trip more closely, follow me on Instagram, I post photos there as regularly as I can.
